The Orchestra in residence of the Mozartstadt came to Augsburg with the internationally renowned Audi Young Persons´ Choral Academy for a Christmas concert of the extra class.
Händel's "Hallelujah!" belongs to Christmas as much as christmas trees and gingerbread. This probably most famous choral work of music history was part of the concert as well as the first part of the oratorio "Messiah", in which the Christmas story is reported.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has also created a well-known Christmas work with the cantata "Exsultate, jubilate!" and demands an enormous virtuosity from the soprano soloist through his breathtaking interpretation of the jubilant text.
The crowning finale of the concert was the "Magnificat" by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, the oldest of Bach's sons. "Magnificat" proves why he was even a better known composer than his father Johann Sebastian Bach during his lifetime.
